SiFu Barry Adkins brought White Crane to Kamloops in 1973, where it has enjoyed unprecedented success. Our school gained national recognition (including being featured on The Fifth Estate - a national news program, and in The Globe and Mail - Canada's national newspaper) when its fighters won free fighting martial arts events in Hong Kong in the late 1970's and early 1980's. It has sent fighting and demonstration teams worldwide, including trips to China and Australia.
The success of the school continued through the 1980's and 1990's, producing World Kickboxing Champions Tom Laroche and Mark Hermiston, as well as a number of other successful professional and amateur fighters. Its demonstration team performed at the 1986 World Exposition, and at the 1993 Canada Summer Games, as well as at numerous other venues. During this time the school was also featured in Warriors - The Fighting Arts Magazine, as well as in Inside Kung Fu.
The school continues to enjoy its unprecedented success, and is recognized as one of the premier schools of White Crane (Pak Hok) worldwide. While many martial arts schools teach large classes to maximize profits, our school continues to focus on delivering high quality instruction to small class numbers, thereby maximizing its success, as well as the health, confidence, and self defence abilities of its students.
